Happy Birthday to me!
Oh, how I love my birthday. I love having a day of being special and put first. I soak up the love and well wishes from those near and far, close and merely passing acquaintances (thanks to the Internet and various social media sites).
Having a birthday in between Christmas and New Year’s can be tricky, but I’ve had 33 years to get used to it. Sometimes I have a party, sometimes I keep it small. My 30th birthday was pretty spectacular as my husband took me on my first trip to Ireland. Today is falling on the low-key side, which is exactly what I want. I get to see (most of) the important people in my life, enjoy a massage, and feast on ice cream and a nice dinner at one of my favorite local joints.
Although I had to get up early to attend to my caregiving duties, I was fully awake before my alarm went off and buzzing with good spirits. I had an egg and croissant sandwich for breakfast and a pumpkin mocha for a snack. It’s all about treating myself and filling my day with fun and relaxation. I know most people are concentrating their energy on tomorrow night, and that’s okay. I know I’m not forgotten and actually love all the prezzies I get in the aftermath.
